Decarbonisation Plans

Climate change is an unavoidable strategic risk for all organizations.

What is a decarbonization plan?

A decarbonization plan is the roadmap that allows organisations to achieve their greenhouse gas reduction goals and targets.

Decarbonization plans have become a fundamental and strategic element for organizations to manage their transition to net zero carbon operations.

Benefits of a decarbonisation plan

Flecha 1 It helps to fight against one of the biggest global problems that humanity is facing, climate change.

Flecha 1 It reduces energy consumption and costs.

Flecha 1 It demonstrates your organisation’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Flecha 1 It increases energy independence, reducing risks and exposure to energy prices and cost of CO2 emissions

Flecha 1 It anticipates the impact of future strict national and international regulations.

How to develop a decarbonisation plan?

In Gen0, we want to help our clients to develop and implement action plans to decarbonise their operations.
Our experience in energy management and energy engineering over the past decades are an excellent base to build tailored decarbonization plans for each of our clients.

The scope of our decarbonisation plans covers greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption and the use of refrigerants. For most organisations this encompasses direct emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels (scope 1) and indirect emissions such as the consumption of electricity (scope 2).

The scope of our decarbonisation plans covers greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption and the use of refrigerants. For most organisations this encompasses direct emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels (scope 1) and indirect emissions such as the consumption of electricity (scope 2).

The approach that we apply is based on the following steps:

01

Establish the scope 1 and the scope 2 Baseline Carbon Footprint (CFB), of your organization. Scope 3 can be also evaluated.

02

Estimate the Projected Carbon Footprint (CFP), business-as-usual carbon footprint for the projected year if decarbonization plans are not implemented.

Priority should be given to scope 1 emission reduction.

05

Build support in your organization to implement the decarbonisation plan, showing its strategic impact. This global support is essential to guarantee that the decarbonisation plan is successful.

06

Implement the different measures proposed in the decarbonization plan and monitor results continuously, detecting deviations in comparison with the expected results and reacting against them.
